Working in collaboration with program instructors, and as part of the ABE, PSE and Learner Services teams, this position will be responsible for developing and delivering support services for students enrolled in two community-based programs located on James Smith Cree Nation. Duties will include academic, career, employment, financial and personal advising on an individual basis and in group settings for students enrolled in a multi-level adult basic education (ABE) class and with students enrolled in the Indigenous Access and Transition Certificate (IATEC) program. It is expected that the advisor will be flexible to provide services face-to-face or remotely via technology as determined by student needs and accessibility to campus community. This position will have the same breaks (February and Easter) as the students. The successful applicant will work 22.5 hours per week from January to May and two 7.5 hour days per month from June to August.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum four-year university degree, specifically in the Behavioural Sciences or Human Services fields with preference for a degree in social work.
- A minimum of two years of experience in the advising, social work, or educational fields. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check will be required.
