Description

Your Day to Day:

Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance
Test and secure systems or components
Efficiently and accurately diagnose and repair vehicle
Repair or replace worn parts
Follow checklist to make sure each critical part is examined
Inspect hoses, belts, plugs, fuel systems, brakes, and other items
Use power, machine, and common hand tools
Review work orders and discuss with supervisor
Inspect motor in operation, road test, and test systems and components using computerized diagnostics and other devices to diagnose and isolate faults
Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components including fuel system, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems
Mentor, coach, train, and support apprentices
Demonstrate a healthy and safe work environment            

What You Bring to the Table:

A provincially recognized Journeyman Automotive Mechanic Certificate is an asset
Red Seal Certification is an asset
Completion of a related post-secondary program and/or training courses
Experience with General Motors is preferred
Strong customer service skills and a good personality
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
A desire to learn more about cars
Strong work ethic
Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods
A valid driver's license and safe driving history is required

 - Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's specifications
