Description

Summary:
The Job Coach is responsible for working along-side and providing individualized support for program participants engaged in vocational activities. The support they provide assists participants to maximize their potential and contributes to a positive quality of life. He/she acts as a role model and an advocate for program participants as well as an ambassador for the company.

Duties:
1. Accompany and support participants to participate in center-based programs.
2. Offer support to encourage independence and assist to achieve personal goals.
3. Assist with warehouse duties and the picking up and delivering of contract supplies.
4. Assist with yard maintenance.
5. Provide feedback for Personal Program Plans and Support Plans; monitors relevance and participation.
6. Documentation and reports.
7. Provide physical and/personal supports to participants as needed.
8. Ensure the maintenance and care of all necessary equipment and supplies.
9. Cross-train for other duties.
10. Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Attributes:
Disability Support Worker Certificate or equivalent training in a related field.
Mandt Training or Crisis Intervention Training is an asset.
Experience providing support for persons with intellectual disabilities is preferred.

This is an 8 week position sponsored by Canada Summer Jobs; candidates must meet eligibility criteria as follows:
1. be between 15-30 years of age at start of employment
2. be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment
3. have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada


Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment.
