Description

SIMFC Purpose:
Saskatoon Indian & Metis Friendship Centre (SIMFC) supports First Nations, Mtis and Inuit cultural distinctiveness by providing community development services that holistically support all ages.
SIMFC primary purpose is to serve the needs of Indigenous people and therefore provides preferential treatment to Indigenous persons in hiring, promotion or other aspects of employment.
Key Role:
Under the direction of the SIMFC Executive Director, the Communications Coordinators key role is communicating SIMFC Covid Relief strategies on an interim basis to their membership, community partners and the general public through social media platforms, printed material, and broadcasting.
Duties and Responsibilities
    Promote SIMFC through social media, press releases, and online platforms.
    Manage SIMFCs social media communications and website.
    Manage SIMFC, Community and Media relations & Communication Services.
    Design and format SIMFC communication policy and materials such as brochures, presentation boards, newsletters and event invitations.
    Create, distribute and promote SIMFC activities & events.
    Promote a positive SIMFC public image.
    Ensure quality control for all released information.
Education and Experience
    Diploma in communications/marketing or a closely related field; a combination of work and related experience will also be considered.
    Knowledge and awareness of Indigenous cultures and history.

Skills Requirements:
    Ability to write clearly and concisely.
    Ability to take quality pictures at community events.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
    Proficient with a range of social media platforms.
    Must be able to work a flexible schedule, as requested.
    Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance.
    Valid, Saskatchewan Drivers license.
