1. Dealing with students:
Provide excellent service to students such that they get the maximum value from the Co-operative Education component of their diplomas.
Give sound guidance/advice to students through every aspect of the job search process.
Establish/sustain a professional relationship with students, which may require a Coordinator to have difficult conversations with students (both before/during the work term), without compromising the academic integrity of Co-operative Education.
2. International students:
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and experience with the Government of Canada Citizenship & Immigration Study Permit and Coop. Ed. student work permit application process.
Have knowledge of and experience with the barriers and successes of an International Cooperative Education Students work term placement.
Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with the Canadian/Saskatchewan business and engineering technology sectors culture and practices and have a keen interest in and open-mindedness towards students of varied ethnic groups.
3. Dealing with employers:
Consistently represent Saskatchewan Polytechnic and Co-operative Education in a positive, professional light.
4. General communication:
Communicate collegially and co-operatively, with a respect for differences and a willingness to work through miscommunications.
Communicate well with internal and external clients/contacts, demonstrating an understanding of and respect for the roles of the Co-op Coordinator, Co-op Program Head, and Co-op Office Assistants.
5. General conduct:
Represent Saskatchewan Polytechnic and the Co-operative Education department.
Be a leader by example for the student.
Overnight travel may be required for job development and monitoring.
