Description

The Town of Nipawin is actively seeking a dynamic individual who is organized, innovative, and knowledgeable in the Public Works field and has excellent people and management skills to fill the position of Public Works Foreperson. This working foreperson position engages in all public works job duties while effectively motivating and directing public works personnel in undertaking all the work required.

Reporting to the Director of Utilities, Works, & Engineering, the Foreperson is responsible for maintaining infrastructure as well as the maintenance of vehicles, equipment, materials, the Municipal Airport, and regional landfill which operates under a permit to operate.

Other responsibilities include planning, fiscal management, administration, technical, and health & safety management of public works department. The Foreperson's goal is to efficiently engage and utilize all personnel, materials, and equipment to their highest capacity in accordance with applicable legislation, bylaws, policies, and procedures.

The ideal candidate shall possess a high school diploma or GED and 5 years' experience in municipal public works operations including directing of personnel (preferably in a unionized environment). Equivalent combinations of educational qualifications and experience will be considered on an individual basis.
