Description

Reporting to the Hardware Manager, this position will mentor and coach the departments team members in the areas of customer engagement, sales, product knowledge, health and safety, loss prevention and ensures the department operates efficiently.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Role modelling excellent customer service by
assisting customers in a manner which will promote the sale of merchandise.
Ordering replenishment of merchandise with approved suppliers.
Supervising the hardware team in such a manner as to ensure they are safe, effective and efficient throughout their daily activities.
To be responsible for the adherence and enforcement of Gateway Co-op policies and procedures.
Any other duties needed to help to drive Gateway Co-ops vision and abide by our co-operatives values of responsibility, respect and excellence.

Qualifications:
A strong retail and/or hardware knowledge background is an asset.
Experience within the Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) is an asset.
Must possess at minimum a Class 5 drivers license and have a good driving abstract.
Knowledge of commodity sales, gross margin, and inventory management.
Excellent communication and strong motivational skills.
Strong leadership skills aligning with company values of teamwork, service, and attitude.  Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Must demonstrate effective coaching skills with a focus on ways to enhance the customer experience.

Working Conditions:
Requires moderate manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
Frequent lifting, sorting, carrying and placing merchandise and supplies up to 25 kg (50lbs) without assistance and over 25 kg (50lbs) with assistance.
Requires to climb up and down ladders.
Required to be on ones feet for an extended period of time.
Minimal exposure to temperature extremes (coolers, freezers, store temperatures, outside temperatures).
