Description

Reporting to the Provincial Director of Epidemiology and Performance Measurement, the First Nations and Mtis Cancer Surveillance Lead is responsible for designing, implementing, and conducting Agency programs and services for surveillance activities of cancer in Aboriginal populations in Saskatchewan.
Develop and implement culturally relevant and specialized strategies in rural, remote, and underserved areas of the province considering such factors as geography, cultural barriers and sensitivities, and access.
Initiate and foster effective and on-going working relationships internally and also externally including all sectors and levels of government (Health Canada, Public Health Agency of Canada, provincial Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and others), community-based organizations, First Nation and Mtis authorities, remote populations in Saskatchewan, and leverages across provinces with other cancer agencies and internationally where appropriate.
Patient, Resident, Client and Employee safety is a critical aspect of quality healthcare.  All employees are accountable for creating a culture of safety, working as a team, communicating effectively and responding to adverse events.  

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health or related field.
Five years of related leadership experience in a health-related field developing, implementing, and evaluating health and disease prevention information. This position requires extensive knowledge of cancer control, health service delivery, epidemiology, data management, and indicator development and experience with epidemiologic analysis techniques.

Knowledge and understanding of First Nations and Mtis culture and traditions as well as experience working with First Nation and Mtis communities in Saskatchewan is an asset.
