This full time/part-time, temporary position is a great opportunity to gain experience with the LIHS. The Family Activities Worker delivers a range of engaging recreational and social activities that strengthens the wellbeing of the families we serve at LIHS Dol-Mar Manor and Emergency Shelter. As part of the Family Support Team, this individual will support the full range of services and activities of the Family Support Program, offering support and practical assistance to children, youth, and their mothers. As well, this individual will work to promote healthy, active living, social connection, and positive family interactions.
Responsibilities & Qualifications: Supports families with their day-to-day routines, practical needs and provides childcare options for mothers. Engages children/youth, and women in activities that promotes strengths, interests, and the wellbeing of each individual. Organizes and facilitates recreational and social activities for individuals and families. Must be 20-29 years of age per funding guidelines. Education in a Human Services or Child-Youth Development field. Experience with supporting vulnerable children/youth/families. Has a strong interest in children and youth; a positive, outgoing demeanor; the ability to develop warm, supportive relationships with children, youth, and women; the ability to work effectively in a demanding, team environment; strong problem-solving skills.  A valid drivers license, a minimum of 3 years driving experience and a clean driving record are also required.
This is a temporary position that runs from Jan. 4 - Feb. 26, 2022
