The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the overall direction, co-ordination and control of the personnel functions including recruitment and retention, labour relations, and payroll and benefit programs. The Director of Human Resources is directly accountable to the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Human Resources, and/or college diploma and five (5) years proven experience
- Extensive experience in organizational management, staff development and community/governmental relations, labour relations
- Should be of Indigenous ancestry and have an awareness and knowledge of Metis and First Nations culture and community life
- Michif or second language an asset
- Valid drivers license and personal vehicle
Responsibilities, Duties and Performance Expectations:
- Ensuring staff are evaluated annually
- Assisting in the evaluations and performance of staff
- Directing the development and updating of job descriptions for all staff positions
- Recommending to the Executive Director the termination or dismissal of staff
- Preparing and performing all duties in regards to grievance, mediation, and arbitration hearings
- Preparing and bargaining all collective agreement proposals, letter of understandings, and attending Union Management Meetings
- Assisting the Director of Programming, Research and Development in identifying staff training needs
- Developing procedures of distribution and drafting employment opportunities for the MACSIs staff recruitment program
- Administering and developing the policy and procedures adopted by the MACSIs Board of Directors
- Monitoring Regional Managers to ensure they maintain and administer the policy and procedures
- Ensuring that all aspects of personnel administration including records are held in confidence
- Obtaining information, clarification, and explanations from Regional Managers
