Job Description: The Research Funding and Contracts Specialist is responsible for developing and overseeing the general research administration activities of the SHA; providing strategic and operational support to the Department, as well as managing external partnerships through contract management and grant facilitation. This position is accountable for managing pre- and post-award processes, activities and obligations through effective, timely and reliable administrative services and in accordance with SHA policies, guidelines and applicable collective agreement(s) and standard operating procedures. This position provides direct support to the organization by managing processes to reduce research-related liability and risk assumed through external partnerships and local research activities. This position provides direct support to SHA investigators in development of research grant applications; internal review and approval of grant proposals; award finalization, sub-transfers and amendments; completion of project reporting requirements, meeting all financial requirements and closing out of awards.
The Specialist demonstrates strong leadership to enable an innovative and positive working climate and a client-centric culture. The Specialist must work cross functionally within the portfolio and across the organization to support operations. The Specialist will develop partnerships and work closely with system and community partners.

Required Qualifications

Valid Class 5 Driver's license
Licensed and in good standing with professional association and/or regulatory body, if applicable
Masters in Health-Related Discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
