Facility: St Pauls Hospital
Job Description: The Infection Control Practitioner (ICP) will be accountable for providing infection, prevention and control related services within SHA (Saskatoon) by maintaining an effective Infection Prevention and Control (IP&C) program, providing training and education related to infection prevention and control and infectious diseases, and by consulting on matters related to infection prevention and control within the region and externally as an expert resource. The incumbent will participate in quality improvement or research activities with the IP&C team and with departments or groups within the SHA (Saskatoon).
Required Qualifications

Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or equivalent, or required to obtain within 3 years of employment
Baccalaureate degree in a medical and clinical healthcare field in nursing, medicine, physiotherapy or occupational therapy required
Successful completion of an Infection Prevention and Control  Canada (IPAC-Canada) approved Infection Control course
Experience
Experience in Infection Prevention and Control.
At least 1 year of medical/clinical patient experience in acute care or long term care.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Ability to effectively articulate the important components of the IPAC program to various types of personnel or clients
Knowledge of epidemiologic principles, statistics, microbiology, infectious diseases, patient/resident care practices, quality improvement, program development, product evaluation, and adult education
Ability to develop and deliver computer-based education programs and presentations
