The FIRST Program will provide services and support in and around the community of Nipawin and surrounding area by identifying families who display risk factors for violence and intervening early using an outreach approach.
This service approach is in alignment with the CSWB Framework and supports the effort to intervene sooner to positively impact family circumstances, preventing potentially serious situations.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive and manage FIRST referrals from
community agencies and partners, seek additional
information (if required) to make an assessment
of suitability of referral and to provide
feedback to referring agency on status of
suitability.
Monitor all active first cases, coordinate and
follow up on all cases at FIRST. Contribute to
the risk assessment and safety planning for
FIRST. Schedule urgent FIRST meetings in a
timely manner in conjunction with the core
members of FIRST.
Provide crisis interventions to families who
have been affected by domestic and family
violence, using appropriate theoretical
frameworks
Provide families affected by domestic and family
violence with information on all options
available to them and their children, providing
them with referral and assistance with their
chosen option and advocate on their behalf where
requested.
Network and develop collaborative relationships
with relevant government organizations and
community agencies.
DUTIES OF CARE
Conduct client assessment of needs when completing an intake.
Provide information, support and referral to
victims and their families in relation to their
presenting needs
Maintain confidentiality and duty of care,
including identification of domestic and family
violence and suicidality.
