Description

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill a Head Guard/Cashier/Lifeguard/Instructor role. Under the direction of the Recreation Service Supervisor, this position is responsible for the safe delivery of municipal pool programming, including  the following duties:
-    Ensure the safe delivery of aquatic programs by providing lifeguard supervision
-    Supervise and direct activities of pool staff and coordinate staff rotations, breaks, pool set-up, etc.
-    Assist in the administration of the recreation, learn-to-swim and community programs including combining and cancelling classes, booking ice usage and development of marketing materials
-    Ensure all pool staff properly understand and apply the established rules of the programs and the facility
-    Ensure timesheets, reports and records on staff and activities are completed
-    Respond to first aid and emergency situations in an appropriate manner
-    Provide coverage for lifeguards and instructors and perform lifeguarding, learn-to-swim, fitness instruction or cashier duties
-    Address inquiries from general public and user groups and be courteous to the public at all times. Ensure patrons and staff are aware of all matters regarding water safety
-    Assist in the coordination and delivery of staff in-service training

The ideal candidate will have:
-    Grade 12 education
-    Lifeguard certification to meet current Saskatchewan Health Swimming Pool Regulations and Standards; Current National Lifeguard; Current Water Safety Instructor; Current Life Saving Instructor and Current Fitness Instructor certificates
-    1 year experience as a Cashier/Lifeguard/Instructor
-    Ability to physically and mentally perform duties in emergency situations
-    Experience with Windows based systems and various Microsoft Office programs
-    Ability to deal courteously, effectively and tactfully with the public
-    Ability to work with cash accurately and in an accountable manner
