Description

The persons selected for this position will help in the planning and coordinating of the Eastview Drop-In Summer Camp and events held at the Eastview Community Centre as well as outings throughout the City of Regina and area. You will be asked to chaperone and monitor to ensure safety and a positive experience for neighbourhood youth aged from 5 to 15. You will need to stay in contact with our program leaders and staff for the variety of other programs we have at the centre, you will need to help with the day to day maintenance and general cleaning of the facility.

The hours for this position are 8:30-4:30 pm Monday to Friday. There will be additional hours as needed and as per contract agreements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Facilitates and assures participation in a variety of arts and craft and sports-related activities for the neighbourhood youth;
2. Organizes activities and promotes participation;
3. Monitors the summer drop-in summer camp to ensure safety of participants; instructs youth in proper methods for operating tools and equipment; monitors and directs behavior at all times to ensure compliance with Centre rules;

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT:
Provided on-site by management.

Required Experience:
Knowledge of arts and craft and sports techniques;

C.P.R. and first aid/AED and Food Safe training would be an asset;

Ability to communicate effectively with youth and Centre staff and general public;

Ability to ensure the safety of the school aged participants;

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to neighbourhood youth and Centre staff;

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
CPR and First Aid/AED and Food Safe Certification (would be an asset)

Additional Comments:
Must provide a criminal record with a vulnerable sector verification before commencing employment.
