Looking for a passionate individual, that demonstrates enthusiasm for safety. The Health & Safety Coordinator reports directly to the HSE Manager and will have an in-depth knowledge of OH&S Acts and Associated Regulations. Job location is in Saskatoon.
Responsibilities:
Providing advice to project management on safety-related actions needed on the job site. Working efficiently and effectively with employees and management, often in stressful situations, and sometimes in demanding or time-sensitive situations, staying up to date of the latest changes to the applicable legislation
Establish and maintain networking relationships, must have good interpersonal communication skills, accepting and adhering to high ethical, moral and personal values in decisions, communications, actions when dealing with others.
Attention to detail with strong organizational skills, effective at managing multiple priorities
Observing, inspecting and assisting site operations to ensure work is being done safely and the site is in Regulatory compliance. Initiate corrective actions to eliminate hazards and promote a safe work environment.
Site work will encompass 60-70% of this role time
Work daily with employees to promote safety programs and accident prevention
Support the investigation of incidents, determine causative factors, and implement corrective action to prevent recurrence, work with WCB Claims
Ability to work independently
Qualifications and experience:
3-6 years of practical site construction experience, safety role with good knowledge of the OHS Act and Regulations.
Certified Safety Officer (CSO or NCSO), safety training such as COR audit experience, first aid, and other construction safety training is considered an asset.
