Duties and Qualifications:
Masters degree in instructional design, instructional technology, educational technology, or related field supplemented by 3-5 years in the design of educational programs, especially in delivering educational opportunities to students desiring flexibility.
Experience with Moodle, Kaltura, video editing software, Captivate (or other system simulation software), and Articulate an asset.
The Instructional Designer will: Collaborate with faculty and sessionals on design and development of online, blended and remote synchronous and asynchronous courses and course materials; Consult on the selection and implementation of technology, teaching tools and resources; Apply and modify various instructional design models and learning theories; Recommend best practices in all aspects of the course design, development, and delivery process; Provide support to faculty on the integration of technology into instruction; Identify instructional problems, develop delivery strategies using technology as an instructional tool, and evaluate the effectiveness of this type of instructional delivery; Set guidelines for establishing and assessing the quality of online, blended and remote synchronous and asynchronous courses; Investigate pedagogical effectiveness of technology and instructional decisions based on applied research; Identify requirements for a project; Initiate, manage, plan, execute and evaluate a project from start to finish; Oversee and coordinate cross disciplinary project teams; Ensure a system of exam invigilation is properly developed and administered; Train, mentor, and coach instructors as required on an individual basis; Develop and deliver workshops; Complete administrative tasks in UR Courses and supervise the Assistant Instructional Designer.
