Description

Reporting to the Superintendent of Public Works, the Transportation Manager is responsible for the day to day management and oversight of all above ground city infrastructure, such as the transportation network maintenance and repair, landfill and Airport.  The Transportation Manager also oversees the city snow removal, traffic light and sign maintenance, street sanding, and refuse removal crews.

Responsibilities:
    Daily coordination of all full time and seasonal/summer staff, ensuring daily upkeep and maintenance activities are complete according to schedule and demands.
    Delegate specific projects and tasks to appropriate individuals and crews according to City needs; prioritize projects and tasks accordingly.
    Engage contract workers as necessary for specific tasks.
    Address any emerging issues, or provide decision making on site (change up, quality control and materials used meeting city standards).
    Manage staff; delegate and inspect work, provide feedback to staff, oversee performance management, review time sheets and time off requests, and deal with attendance and performance issues as they arise.
    Ensure timelines of projects are met and provide oversight to ensure contractors remain on track.
    Prepare, manage and monitor operating budget process.
    Track projects, timelines and escalate any budgetary concerns to Director.
    Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
    Technical or trade certification related to management of municipal infrastructure preferred.
    Landfill Operators Certification would be an asset.
    Certificates in Water and Wastewater would be an asset.
    5-7 years progressive management/supervisory experience required.
    Valid class 3A Drivers license preferred/valid class 5 Drivers license required.
