Description

The Big River First Nation is searching for a Library Technician to join our team.
The Library Technician will provide technical and public services and perform other duties related to library operations.

Reports to: Education Director

Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports the Teacher Librarian in assisting students using assistive technologies to help them access information for their inquiries
Organizes and maintains the collection organization including filing, shelving, and inventory
Organizes and maintains the circulation and repair of learning resources
Assists in performing basic collection development and reader guidance services including a needs analysis, collection assessment, and de-selection
Monitors and assists students in the library
Recruits, monitors, and assists volunteers and student assistants
Assists, advises, and directs staff and students to appropriate materials
Performs routine clerical and technical tasks
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Possess a Grade 12 Diploma
Be a graduate of a recognized Community College Program as a Library
Technician or equivalent is an asset
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software and library automation systems is an asset
Proficiency with keyboarding, speed and accuracy are essential
Must possess excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Must be able to work effectively and efficiently with minimum supervision
Must demonstrate a positive attitude and commitment to the provision of excellent service
Prior library technician experience is an asset
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Must have a Valid Class 5 Drivers License
Must successfully complete Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search as well as comply with an annual Oath of Confidentiality Agreement.
Fit for Duty Policy in effect.
