Big River First Nation is located about an hour northeast of Spiritwood.
Applicants must possess:
-Knowledge of how a library is structured (i.e. Genre categories, Dewey Decimal System)
-Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
-Independence and willingness to work as a team player
-Ability to follow direction
-Knowledge of leveled literacy scales (i.e. DRA)
-Proficiency in using technology for inventory, check-in, check-out purposes
-Willingness to showcase books and resources for focused themes
Assignment:
a.Gr. 6-12 library/resource support for teachers
b.Gr. 6-12 library support for students
c.Work closely with the on-site Literacy Catalyst
Job description:
-Assist staff and students in accessing books, maps, documents, electronic materials, and other library materials
-Provide library etiquette training to staff and students
-Catalogue new library acquisitions and keep an up-to-date inventory of materials
-Assist teachers with locating and gathering resources for focused themes (i.e. holidays, units of study)
-Apply standards and policies for storage of records and archival materials (codify and classify; enter archival database)
-Transfer materials from current to semi-current status or put into permanent storage
-Ensure that proper procedures are followed in the use of computerized document management systems
