Description

The purpose of this position is to assist in executing the YMCAs Urban Adventure Summer Day Camp in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. This program is offered at a YMCA program site, with excursions throughout Moose Jaws community. We are looking for an enthusiastic, attentive camp counselor to lead, support, and motivate campers as they enjoy all that the camp has to offer. The camp counselor will lead group events, monitor campers and respond to incidents, such as behavioral problems or accidents, and discuss camper participation and concerns with parents and other camp staff members. You should be positive, proactive, and caring while focusing on giving campers a fun, safe camp experience.

Responsibilities:
This position will work 20 hours/ week, Monday-Friday with 4 hours a day.  
-Developing, supervising, and participating in camp-wide programming activities with campers of different ages  
-Assist in break coverage, leading the groups through the planned activities
- Assist in preparing and supporting the planned activities  
- Building relationships and providing safe and caring environments to registered campers  
- Comply with all YMCA Child Protection policy and procedures, and complete all Child Protection training as required

Requirements:  
- Ability to build relationships and work with youth is an asset, especially those with challenging behaviours
- Valid Driver's License  
- Must obtain an original criminal record check before starting work (dated within 3 months of hire)  
-Must have updated CPR and First Aid upon start date

Working Conditions:
- Working outside in the summer months and in Moose Jaws community  
- Need to be flexible and collaborative on a team
