Big River First Nation is located about an hour northeast of Spiritwood.
This position would be responsible for working with our student athletes to help them develop to their fullest potential and to achieve a high school credit.
Applicants must possess:
> A Saskatchewan Professional A teaching certificate
> Philosophy of First Nations Education
Core duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
>Develop an annual and multi-year strategic plan which includes player development, recruitment and placement
>Active involvement in-game and practice preparation, bench duties, off-ice workout monitoring
>Assist with on and off ice skill development
>Provide feedback to players
>Develop a yearly plan, playbook and regular evaluations
>Participation in team and school meetings
>Creating and executing a communication plan with student athletes and their parents/guardians; participating in on-going communication
> Being the main contact in the resolution of conflicts that may arise in staff, parents, players, situations or disciplinary issues.
>Create/review weekly recaps/highlights and gathering of data for metric analysis
>Support the direction and management of the team while contributing to the overall development of the team and individual players.
>Summarize performance data: overall team, individual players, last-X-games, period by period, special teams, etc.
> Responsible for the inventory of equipment, repairs, and replacements
What do we need from you?
>A passion for hockey and helping players develop their fullest potential
>1-2 years experience as a Hockey Coach; HP1 coaching is considered an asset
>Ability to establish good working relationships with players and staff
>Efficient data collection and ability to summarize performance data
>Valid drivers license and clean criminal records check with vulnerable sector search
>Ability and willingness to travel
