Description

The Tisdale Community Curling Club is seeking an Ice Technician for the 2022 - 2023 Curling Season. The facility has a six-sheet curling rink with an attached lounge. The ice technician will take on the responsibility of the curling ice, from installation thru removal as a contractor position. A minimal of level 1 certification is required. The position runs from October 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023.

Responsibilities include:
- Ensure that all materials necessary to commence the installation and maintenance of ice for the new season are on site prior to October of each year
- Ordering ice making supplies
- Install the ice for the new season during the first two weeks of October
- Maintain the ice and equipment throughout the curling season by monitoring conditions daily and by making necessary adjustments/repairs
- Prepare the ice (shaving, nipping & pebbling) prior to each game (leagues, bonspiels, rentals)
- Ensure that, in the case of his/her absence, a trained replacement takes over ice making responsibilities (at the ice technicians expense)
- At the end of March, remove the ice at the end of the curling season and clean and store all ice related equipment and material
- Follow a certified ice technicians course, at the clubs expense, within one year of employment
- Prepare and present monthly reports to the Board of Directors
- Janitorial services to the curling club lockers and washrooms on the ice surface level
- Communicating with the curling rink manager and reporting to the manager on a regular basis
