Meadow Lake Mechanical Pulp Inc. is the world's first successful zero-effluent-discharge market pulp mill that is a state-of-the-art, chlorine-free bleached chemi-thermo mechanical pulp (BCTMP) facility. We offer a safe, dynamic work environment and an attractive wage and benefit package; Meadow Lake is a non-unionized mill.

BUYER

Reporting to the Supply Chain & Logistics Manager, the Buyer will join a team responsible for the procurement of materials, commodities, equipment, and goods and services.  While adherence to established Purchasing Procedures and Policies is critical, it is expected that the Buyer will have the ability to exercise judgment.  

Responsibilities:
-Sources and procures supplies, services and other goods ensuring they meet or exceed internal expectations
-Reviews and analyzes supplier / contractors proposals
-Facilitates the sourcing of site materials and services by communicating business needs to vendors / service providers
-Reviews all purchasing requests to ensure consistency with Corporate policy, procedures and standards
-Manages work backlog to appropriate levels
-Inventory monitoring and action
-Develops and maintains a positive, ethical and professional style that supports teamwork and aids employees in achieving organizational objectives
-Participates in cross training rotation within -the Purchasing department
-Weekend on-call rotation in the Purchasing/Stores department

Qualifications:
-A recognized purchasing designation or certification is considered an asset
-Procurement or related experience in an industrial setting is considered an asset, but not required
-Proficient computer abilities
-Highly motivated and able to work independently
-Flexible, well organized and ability to multi-task
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skillscustomer focused
-A high sense of urgency with regards to operational requirements
