This is a Canada Summer Jobs funded position. Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada, be 15-30 years of age, and be either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have been granted refugee status. LGBTQ2, Indigenous, and racialized youth are encouraged to apply.
Required: Criminal record and vulnerable sector check, valid driver's license, current first aid and CPR, availability to work weekdays, evenings and some weekends, access to personal cell phone.
The Cycle Guide will drive and operate a children's pedal bus on a multi-use trail along the South Saskatchewan River and act as an interpreter to groups of tourists. This position utilizes communication and leadership skills daily. This role involves being physically active outdoors in a range of weather conditions, attending to guest comfort and safety, completing bike maintenance, using a digital platform, and working independently.
Skills and Experience:
Experience in Education, recreation, tourism welcome.
Prior experience teaching and leading groups of children would be an asset.
Prepared and enthusiastic to be outdoors for extended periods of time in a variety of weather conditions.
Must be able to cycle and be physically active for several hours at a time.
Comfort and confidence with addressing members in a leadership role
Basic bike mechanic training
Computer savvy - ability to navigate online booking software
Punctual and organized with strong communication skills.
Certifications:
Standard First Aid and CPR-C
A clean Criminal Record check with Vulnerable Sector Report
Valid driver's license
Post secondary training in a related field (e.g. Education, Kinesiology, Sustainability, Recreation) is considered an asset
Must be available to work weekdays, weekends, and evenings.
Approximately 35 hours per week over July and August, with opportunity for extension. Note: training day(s) will take place at the end of June.
