The Moose Jaw Multicultural Council is seeking an enthusiastic client centred Settlement Advisor to join our team at the Newcomer Welcome Centre (NWC). The NWC provides guidance and support in accessing information, resources and services, which will assist in successful settlement to the region.
Reporting to the NWC Manager, the Settlement
Advisor will be an invaluable resource toward newcomer settlement and adaptation in Saskatchewan. The Settlement Advisor's primary role is to assist newcomers in developing personal tools and resources for successful transition into their new Saskatchewan home communities. The Settlement Advisor will provide one-on-one assessments, referrals, and follow ups to individuals and families from a broad range of linguistic, ethno-cultural backgrounds.
The Settlement Advisor will be required to work
flexible hours, travel to other communities in the service region and facilitate
access to services for newcomers. The applicant
must have a valid Saskatchewan driver's license
and reliable vehicle and the ability to obtain and maintain a clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
The ideal candidate will possess a post secondary
degree in the social sciences or equivalent education and experience in a related field, ability to work as a member of a team and adapt to an open work environment.
Additional language skills are also considered an asset.
