Description

Limited social networks continue to be a barrier to integration between newcomers and the general public. In order to widen these social networks, the Moose Jaw Multicultural Council (MJMC) is participating with community programming to give newcomer children opportunities to interact with children in their neighbourhoods.   The children will begin at MJMC with a mini-program, and end the day at their community program.

The Childrens Summer Program Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and supervising an 8-week summer program for newcomer children ages 6-12, including 3 paid staff. They will supervise a morning mini-program at MJMC before transporting children to their community programming within Moose Jaw. When needed, they will act as a liaison between the MJMC staff, the community programs, and MJMC children and families. They will spend time at each playground site.

Qualifications
Experience working with children in a group setting
Enthusiastic about working with newcomer children and their families
Leadership and supervisory experience
Program planning and organizing experience
Excellent communication skills, including cross-cultural communication
Conflict resolution skills  
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Valid Class 5 drivers license
Clear Criminal Record Check required
First Aid & CPR
Fluency in Arabic, French, Swahili, Tigrinya considered an asset
Experience with driving a 14-passenger van an asset
