Produce Clerk Job Description
A produce clerk is responsible for ensuring that the grocery store is maintained in a clean, safe and appealing state to its customers. Duties of this position include organizing items on shelves, removing expired products from displays, assisting customers in their daily shopping needs and bagging customer purchases.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Replenish stock and goods on display shelves.
Rotate products and goods according to the company's instructions.
Greet customers with a warm smile as they enter the store.
Create a positive and friendly environment for customers.
Assist with the customer orders by retrieving items from the relevant sections.
Remove expired products from the display.
Ensure shelves are clean and neat.

Qualifications
Experience in safe food handling in a grocery store preferred.
Basic knowledge of produce and grocery items.
Strong sense of hygiene and cleanliness.
Excellent customer service, helpful and enthusiastic.
Flexible to work day, evening and weekend shifts as required.
Able to stand and walk around for long periods at a time.
Able to move, lift and carry upto 50lbs.

Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Good reading and math skills.
Basic computer skills.
Excellent verbal communication skills and legible writing.
Previous experience working in a produce or other type of food service job.

Work Environment
Must be available to work a flexible schedule including weekdays and weekends
Most of the time will be spent standing on hard cement or tile floors.
At times floors may be wet; therefore athletic shoes with good traction are recommended.
May be exposed to extremes in temperatures when going in and out of large freezers or opening and closing commercial oven doors.
