Position Description
We are seeking an experienced Civil Technologist to join our team on a variety of projects across the province. The successful candidate will support projects by providing the following services:
- Collect preliminary and as-built surveys using conventional, total station, and RTK GPS technologies
- Provide horizontal and vertical layout surveys using conventional, total station, and RTK GPS technologies for the construction of infrastructure such as roadways, curb and gutter, sidewalks, and underground water, sanitary, and storm sewer networks
- Download and compile electronic survey information into Civil 3D
- Complete earthwork volumetric design and reporting using Civil 3D
- Prepare plans, sections, and detail design drawings for a variety of projects
- Assist in the preparation of specifications, design calculations, and cost estimates
- Complete on-site daily inspection reports during construction that document contractor progress, on-site challenges, and follow up on unresolved issues
- A knowledge of soils, aggregate, asphalt, and concrete testing procedures and how to read and interpret the testing results of these materials is considered an asset
Qualifications
- Candidates to have completed a two-year or equivalent program in Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized technical school
- Have a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in transportation, municipal, or land development projects
- Have design experience using Civil 3D
- Must be able to operate word processing and spreadsheet applications in Microsoft Office 365
- Have excellent verbal and written communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Have experience working around power mobile equipment
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's license and be willing to travel to project sites
