Description

Basic Function:

Reporting to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager this position is responsible for assisting in the managing of environmental, safety, and health processes and providing leadership for all matters related to employee safety and health. They will support manufacturing personnel to ensure that systems are in place to drive continuous improvement in employee safety programs.

Responsibilities:

Duties may include all or a portion of, but not limited to, the following:
1.    Follow prescribed safety standards, rules and regulations including those regarding the usage of PPE, Emergency Plans and EH&S Policy.
2.    To identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions by completing 4 observation cards per year.
3.    Assist in coordinating accident/incident investigations and follow-up on corrective actions
4.    Assist in the data collection and presentation of SMAT, Safety Audits and EMAT, Environmental Audit data as well as routine area audits for regulatory compliance and system conformance
5.    Assist with coordinating EHS&E training and communications
6.    Clerical support for tracking and reporting plant EHS&E performance or ad-hoc data, including safety and environmental performance measures, training, incident tracking, audit findings, WCM
7.    Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and training modules for use by shop employees, supervisors, and management teams
8.    Assist in the development, implementation and compliance of policies, programs, processes, procedures and reduce EH&S hazards associated with plant operations.
9.    Help develop, conduct and coordinate EH&S training and communication programs.

Qualifications:

1.    Completion of a related post secondary degree or diploma in Health and Safety or equivalent work experience
2.    Experience in Health and Safety will be considered an asset.
3.    No active disciplinary letters on file.
