The Saskatchewan Research Councils (SRC) Environment and Biotech Division has an opening for a GIS Technologist to provide support with spatial and environmental data processing, data management and map design.
Accountabilities
Perform georeferencing and geospatial data formatting, and processing
Support GIS data processing scripts and tools
Produce maps, graphs, and data tables to support field work and reporting
Perform quality control and populate field data into the database
Assist team members with the use of mobile field apps such as Survey123, Avenza, etc.
Assist in field operations/surveys as required
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree or diploma in GIS, Geography or a related discipline will be considered
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Understanding of different GIS and non-GIS data formats
Experience in spatial data management including data collection, organization, and quality control
Knowledge of GIS, Python and SQL are assets
Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS and georeferencing techniques are assets
Valid Class 5 drivers license

The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
This position is primarily office based, but there will be field work required during the field season from May November including occasional travel to remote, radiation-impacted abandoned mine sites in Northern Saskatchewan. This position is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
