THE OPPORTUNITY
-We are looking for a permanent full-time accounting clerk with 1 year of experience to join our team at Head Office
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Director of Finance & IT, some of the key responsibilities of the Accounting Clerk are:
-Process appointments to private bar lawyers and invoices submitted
-Contact lawyers to notify when items submitted are not allowable and advise of changes to account
-Review, verify and correct information
-Create and maintain client files, filing system and client database for accounts
-Perform data entry and for accounts payable invoices
-Provide backup for our payroll/accounting officer.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Education: High school graduation and two years of relevant post-secondary education (i.e. basic accounting and payroll) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum of three years of previous related experience, payroll experience would be an asset.
- Technology acumen: Able to operate computers and familiar with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel). Knowledge and familiarity with accounting (Sage 300) and payroll software (ADP Workforce Now).
- Payroll knowledge as an asset: Has functional and technical knowledge and skills in payroll including legislative requirements.
- Attention to detail: Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when performing tasks through concentration and attention to detail.
- Able to work under pressure, time sensitive deadlines, and multi-task: Deals with constraints including deadlines or time constraints which may at times, be outside of personal control. Able to multi-task, plan, and set priorities.
