Description

The Indigenous Practical Nursing (IPN) program is a full time two year diploma program. It will prepare students to become a culturally responsive and professional care provider- with an understanding of western and Indigenous approaches to health and wellness. Classroom, technologically enhanced lab, and practicum activities will help students to develop the skills needed to make a positive difference in the health and well-being of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous populations.

As the educational leader in the classroom, Instructors will be responsible for delivering SIIT programs and curricula with the purpose of promoting student success. Working collaboratively as a team of educational professionals, Instructors will demonstrate a strong commitment to create and maintain a creative and positive learning environment at SIIT. These include the following broad areas of accountability:

-Prepare lesson plans and appropriate delivery methods planning documents for course delivery
-Select, design, update and create course related materials including student assessment records, and attendance records
-Ensure that instruction design and delivery supports the approved objectives of the program
-Create and maintain a creative and positive learning environment that provides the opportunity for meaningful learning
-In collaboration with the Program Coordinator, organize, supervise and/or monitor practicums
-Adhere to and promote academic regulations and SIIT policies and procedures
-Support the enhancement of future student enrollment through positive promotion of SIIT programs
-Foster a positive, collaborative and professional working relationship among students, coworkers and partners across the institution
