Description

Prairie Hospice provides client centered, non-medical care delivered by volunteers for Saskatoon residents and their families who are facing advanced illness, death and bereavement.  

Accountable to the Executive Director, the Volunteer Coordinator oversees volunteer selection, training, and engagement, client intake. Oversees implementation of programming and participates in program development. Promotes positive relationships with volunteers and staff.  Cultivates relationships with related professionals, individuals and community groups who may be involved in client services and/or hospice advocacy.

Working as a team, our two Coordinators enjoy the challenges and the rewards of providing supportive services to terminally ill clients and their families, training and supporting volunteers, educational opportunities and a degree of schedule flexibility.

Qualifications:
    Sound knowledge of end-of-life issues.
    Post-secondary education in human services, nursing, or social work.
    Demonstrates ability to learn new skills, show initiative, function with considerable self-reliance, and to work as part of a team.
    Demonstrates ability to use sound judgement in problem solving and decision-making.  
    Ability to develop, evaluate and modify programming, policy and procedures
    Adult learning knowledge and communication skills to transfer knowledge
    Ability to communicate with and maintain an effective working relationship with clients from diverse social, economic and cultural backgrounds
    Ability to competently use computers/software applications as required.
    Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated leadership success.
    Ability to work flexible hours.
    Ability to drive and provide own vehicle.
