Wanuskewin is looking for a motivated person to join our team as a Collections Assistant for a 9 month term (July 2022 March 2023)
The position will include the following accountabilities:
* Digitization Visual Material Collection of approximately 2500 items
* Draft and finalize collections descriptions
* Upload the visual material collection to websites
* Visual Material Collection rehousing
* Research our collection items to ensure detailed descriptions are available to staff and visitors
* Ensure excellence in the stewardship of all resources
- Contribute to international excellence in stewardship of resources and exemplifying the principles and standards of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
* Previous experience with a museum or similar setting is ideal.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Possess excellent research abilities and writing skills.
- Self-starter and self-directed with initiative.
- Must be organized and detail oriented
- Must have familiarity with collections management and/or artifact and artwork handling
- Must have experience with digitization
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to work independently and as part of our diverse team
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
- Must have a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a commitment to our goals and mission
