Overview:
As part of the Community and Leisure Services Department, the City of Humboldt is currently seeking to fill multiple casual Lifeguard / Water Safety Instructor positions.
Reporting to the Aquatic Manager or the Senior Lifeguard on duty, the Lifeguard / Water Safety Instructor is responsible to ensure that the participants in the swimming pool programs have a safe, enjoyable aquatic learning experience. This position will be responsible for instructing swimming lessons, monitoring public activities in and around the aquatic center, ensuring adherence to rules and safety regulations, performing rescues, and first aid. Public relations skills and assistance with pool maintenance are also required. This position requires days, evenings, and weekend availability.
Qualifications:
Required:
1. Must be 15 years of age or older.
2. Red Cross Lifeguard or Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard.
3. Standard First Aid, CPR C, AED.
4. Water Safety Instructor.
Preferred:
1. Life Saving Instructor & Examiner.
2. Pool Operators Certificate.
3. Aquafit Instructor.
Compensation:
This is an in-scope position under CUPE Local 2359 with a starting wage of $16.37/hour (2022 rate) with additional increases with proof of the following qualifications as per the Collective Agreement: Red Cross Water Safety Instructor $1.00/hour; Lifeguard Instructor $.50/hour; Pool Operator Certificate $.50/hour.
