Description

The Drainage Control Inspector performs technical duties related to the City of Reginas Wastewater and Storm Water Bylaw.  This new role is responsible for ensuring compliance with overland drainage design grades, drainage easements and all other storm water related matters that may be outlined in the revised bylaw.   This role will review drainage plans and respond to drainage related concerns throughout the city. It will be responsible for investigating these complaints, including the inspection and survey of residential, commercial, and industrial private drainage systems to determine if these systems are in compliance with the bylaw.  The role will promote and provide education to property owners on City standards and best management practices for storm water management, runoff control and lot grading.  The candidate in this role will be detail-oriented with excellent communication skills, verbal and written.  An analytical mind with a technical background is essential.

Some duties will include:
-Inspect, investigate and interpret various bylaws and apply the processes for progressive bylaw enforcement in a respectful manner through the promotion of voluntary compliance and excellent customer service.
-Responds to flooding and drainage complaints from the public and the business community.
-Maintains comprehensive records of all communication and activities associated with flooding and drainage complaints.  
-Performs related work as required.

The knowledge, skills and abilities obtained through completion of a two (2) year program in a Civil Engineering Diploma program with an emphasis on Geomatics and a minimum of two (2) years related experience in a municipal engineering environment.
