Description

The Coordinator, Sustainable Communities is responsible for leading the development of sustainable waste and water strategies, policies, and programs for the City of Regina. The position is responsible for leading and participating on interdisciplinary professional teams in advancing sustainability initiatives including the role of internal consultant. This position is responsible for providing specialized professional advice to the corporation in the areas of sustainable waste and water management practices, policy development and program/project management. Includes the development and delivery of programs as outlined in Waste Plan Regina for all sectors, residential, industrial, institutional and commercial sector and the construction and demolition sector. This includes leading, developing and facilitating the development of policies, strategies, plans, programs, and projects related to sustainability and monitoring and evaluating progress in this high profile politically sensitive area of work. In addition, this position is responsible for planning and coordinating education and outreach activities to improve the understanding of waste and water management in the community. As well, the position is responsible for conducting public engagement and facilitation activities to form the development, implementation and promotion of various programs and projects.

Typically, the knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position require a university degree in Geography, Biology, or Environmental Studies with courses in Business Administration, Communications, or other related areas combined with three (3) to five (5) years experience in the development, delivery, coordination and project management for waste or water programming.
