Description

The Client Worker/Counsellor is responsible for providing intake, crisis and short term and group counselling to survivors of sexual assault and to individuals who have been impacted by the sexual assault of family or friends.
Knowledge/skills:
Theory and practice in counselling adults (females and males), teens, who have experienced violence and trauma as well as families/friends or support people who have also been impacted by the sexual violence experienced by a survivor
Understanding of the psychological, emotional, physical, behavioural and economic impacts of sexual assault
Experience in working as a member of a counselling team
Organizational and case management skills
Crisis management and response experience
Group facilitation techniques and experience
Competency and experience working with diverse populations and individuals experiencing multiple trauma and challenges
Computer literacy and familiarity with Office programs
Ability to work in a high stress environment working with clients who have experienced a trauma and may present to staff in a crisis.
After hours, weekend and evening work may occasionally be required to facilitate support groups, support agency or community events so candidates must be willing to flex their hours.
