Position Summary:
The general labourer operatesequipment or machinery in a designated work area or department. Duties may include operation of machines that cut, bend, roll or otherwise shape metal, and the operation of forklifts or other power mobile equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively supports and complies with safety programs, quality assurance programs, labour laws, human rights legislation and occupational health and safety laws.
- Actively supports and complies with allAGI/Westeelpolicies and procedures.
- Works with fellow team members to produce a high-quality product safely and efficiently.
- Use a variety of manufacturing equipment to fabricate steel (industrial bends, plasma cutters, cut to length machines, etc.).
- Assists in the manufacture and preparation of all products.
- Assists in the upkeep of all equipment.
- Assists in the housekeeping and cleanliness of the facility.
- Other duties as assigned.
Competencies (Knowledge, skill, attributes)
- Attention to detailin a fast-paced production environment.
- The ability to process, track and count both parts and entire products.
- Well developed organizational skills.
- Proficient with a variety of measuring tools.
- Strong understanding of safety culture and principles.
- Reading comprehension, writing skills and some computer skills.
