The Estevan Skating Club is seeking to fill a primary coaching position for the 2022/2023 season. The applicant must be a professional in good standing.
The club boasts a large CanSkate enrollment with over 100 skaters annually and approximately 30 figure skaters ranging in level from Star 1 to Pre Novice. Estevan is a strong club recognized provincially as developing strong, competitive skaters. Skaters compete at both Regional and Provincial competitions. A large ice show is held every two years.
Estevan features two indoor rinks connected by the Estevan Leisure Center. The larger of the two rinks, Affinity Place, was built in 2011 and hosts a variety of sporting and entertainment events.
Brief job description:
Coach will be responsible for managing all skaters, as well as a large CanSkate group, which skates twice a week.
Coach will take the lead role in the club, but must be willing to work with the existing part time coach.
Provide both group and private lessons
Travel to competitions, both Regional and Provincial
Strong communication skills and ability to work with board members
Contract position, mid-August to end of April; average ice time per week is 11.5 hours with opportunity to increase coaching hours through the addition of weekly off ice, dryland jump/conditioning, and stretch/spin classes
Qualifications:
Must be in Good standing with Skate Canada
Minimum NCCP Level 1 and Provincial Coach status
Completed Star 1 5 module and testing
Previous coaching experience
Must hold a First Aid Certification
