Description

*Please note, this is a full-time opportunity for 4-8 months.

The City of Reginas Traffic branch is recruiting casual employees for its seasonal traffic counting program.Specific responsibilities including installing traffic counting devices, conducting manual traffic counts, sign inventory, analyzing collected data, updating databases, creating reports and charts, and using the data to respond to inquiries from staff and the public. Gain entry-level experience in the engineering industry while knowing your work is instrumental to the various facets of work throughout our city.

-Program, install, and remove various traffic counting devices according to data collection requirements.
-Perform manual traffic data collection as required.
-Update and manage sign inventory.
-Operate and troubleshoot the uploading & downloading of data using traffic data collection software.
-Review and assess data for accuracy and completeness.
-Create reports from data using specialized software and Microsoft Excel application.
Perform calculations and queries in a spreadsheet and database environments.
-Compiles elementary statistics from field notes and related information.

Knowledge of principles, theories and practices related to transportation engineering.
Skills and knowledge in the use of hand and power tools.
Intermediate computer skills to create tables and forms, create formulas, create queries and reports and import/export data from various sources and formats.
Ability to perform work that requires a moderate level of physical effort and/or dexterity.
Skills to express ideas effectively, in oral and written form.

Working/Other Conditions

Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license.
Must be willing and able to perform work of a physical nature in field environments and inclement conditions.
Will be required to work from variable bases of operation.
May be required to work shift work and/or irregular hours.
