Description

The Economist has a rare combination of skills. They are equally fluent in economic theory and everyday language, capable of consuming and processing complex information, and helping others make sense of it. This position will lead the design and implementation of complex statistical, economic modelling, and policy analysis projects. The Economist reports to the CEO, and advises the executive team regarding information, data, and policy requirements to support accurate dynamic economic modelling. They are an exceptional communicator who understands both the local economic landscape and how macro-economic conditions at a national and international level can affect the City and region. They fill the need for careful, creative economic analysis as a foundation for strategic planning, program assessment, marketing, and stakeholder communications.

Key Accountabilities:
-Provide authoritative advice to the senior leadership team and Board of Directors
-Brief senior officials on the application of economic principles for the GRA within EDR and at various levels of government
-Provide economic data to support legislative and policy change for the GRA
-Provide leadership, strategic advice and intelligence on the economic outlook for Regina in an effort to ensure the right economic information and policies are available
-Provide media commentary, briefings and communication material to internal and external stakeholders
-Build and maintain collaborative, productive working relationships with private and public stakeholders
-Maintain a high level of familiarity with Reginas business climate and formulate EDRs position on issues and policies of economic importance
-Build on EDRs economic relevance through advocacy of new programs and approaches to economic development opportunities
