The Communications and Marketing Manager provides division-wide communication and marketing advice to senior levels of the organization including Administrative Council, Principals and Vice-Principals in the areas of issues management, reputation management, public relations, media relations, and strategic communications planning. The Communications and Marketing Manager is also responsible for implementing division-wide communication and marketing policies, practices, procedures and plans and helping to promote the strategic plan of the organization.
The successful candidate will bring a degree or diploma in communications, or journalism and at least five years experience working in the field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Strong media relations skills and an in-depth understanding of the media in Saskatoon and Saskatchewan will be required along with superior written and oral communication skills, with the ability to make effective public presentations. The successful candidate will have strong organizational and time management skills, along with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously. The ability to develop and maintain partnerships with groups and individuals external to the organization is essential. The ability to think strategically and see the big picture in which the organization functions and the ability to coach and train others on positive communication and/or marketing strategies and media presence will be required. The successful candidate will hold a strong belief in the value of public education.
