Description

Childcare Worker, In Home Support Program- 15 hours per week

As the Childcare Worker your role is to provide direct support to Foster Parents or Caregivers in the daily needs of the children or youth placed in their homes. The primary role of the In Home Support Worker is to assist with childcare while under the direct supervision of the Foster Parent or Caregiver.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and monitor the safety of children/youth
Assist with childrens daily routines
Organize and participate in recreational activities
Support the emotional and social development of children and youth
Perform housekeeping duties such as laundry, dishwashing, and cleaning related to the general upkeep of the household
Identify any signs of a childs emotional or developmental challenges and discuss with the Foster Parent or Caregiver
Requirements:
Minimum High School Diploma;
Must be 18 years of age or older
Criminal Record Check inclusive of Vulnerable Sector Check
Valid Drivers License when required
Job experience preferred in one of the following fields: daycare, educational assistant
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Effective organizational skills including time management, the ability to think clearly and logically, to problem solve effectively, and the ability to function with minimal supervision
Maintain a high degree of professionalism regarding demeanor, dress, language, communication, and boundaries with co-workers, Foster Parents or Caregivers
Have a high level of interpersonal and communication skills for team collaboration
Effective, respectful, and professional written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable with and ability to remain calm during high stress situations
Impeccable working relationships and knowledge of partnering agencies
