Description

You will Supervise part of Food Security Program in all phases of the Aquaponics and Greenhouse operation including taking water samples, mixing organics, recording, and measuring plant data, monitoring plant growth, and training staff. The operation is starting out small in order to build skill levels; additional green houses, potentially hydroponics building, etc are possibilities. As growing expands you would be required to take on additional related responsibilities. You will be monitoring and maintaining the efficient flow of the overall greenhouse operation with safety,efficiency, and improving community food security as the highest priorities. This position supervises, trains, and supports most of the activities of employees in the greenhouse/s. Works directly with our Food Security Coordinator, and the FS Team to develop a Work Plan for growing, consistent with our communities training & production goals
Training seasonal staff utilizing hands on work and multimedia, with rotations based on skills development and individual interests
Prepares space required for planned production based on seasonal timing requirements to maximize the spaces and production. Monitors and manages all technologies, growing conditions, changes in humidity, moisture, temperature, and cultivation procedures to ensure best practice and attention to quality control standards. Manages inputs and ongoing needs of the fish and plants. Inspects crops on arranged regular basis; manages removals and replanting, maintaining highest quality. Ensures all community and food security program policies & procedures are followed and contributes to these when requested.
