Being a mentor or respite worker to someone with a cognitive disability is a service intended to bring greater quality of life and increased independence to the individual (mentee) you are supporting. As a mentor your role is to build a relationship based on trust with the person you are mentoring, while presenting opportunities for that individual to learn, grow and be more self-sufficient in everyday life. Education and experience in working with children/youth/ adults is required
