Responsibilities
The Cree Language Teacher should have the ability to use Traditional Cree learning theory and technical knowledge to teach students, provide professional development for teachers, and create educational resources. The Cree Language Teacher will be responsible for:
Compose and edit written educational materials.
Implementing the training and evaluating the effectiveness of the curriculum.
Ability to define outcome and indicators.
Create the learning environment and content materials.
Ability to work closely with colleagues and educators to determine needs throughout the design/planning process.
Communicate effectively in Cree orally and written.
Plan and organize language activities for Pre K to grade 9 programs before, during and after school.
Use various language teaching strategies for mentoring students, teachers, and teacher assistants.
Assessing student Cree Language development throughout the school year (grading).
Data management (report cards).
Managing student attendance records.
Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and challenges of Cree Language in the classroom.
Supervise and co-ordinate school wide language activities.
Host professional development for teachers.
Other duties as assigned.
