Job Description: THE CLINICAL COORDINATOR, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE MANAGER, IS PRIMARILY ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE SYSTEM NAVIGATION AND COORDINATION OF PATIENT FLOW ON THE NURSING UNIT. THIS IS ACHIEVED BY THE COORDINATOR HAVING AN ONGOING AWARENESS AND INVOLVEMENT IN WORKFLOW OF THE UNIT.  DUTIES INCLUDE BED MANAGEMENT, DISCHARGE PLANNING, ADVOCATING FOR THE PATIENT/FAMILY, IDENTIFYING SUPPLY AND EQUIPMENT NEEDS AND ASSISTING WITH STAFF SCHEDULING.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Advanced communication skills
Advanced problem solving skills
Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Ability to adapt to changing conditions
Advanced mediation skills

NOTE: This is a Provincial Posting and is open to all SUN members within the bargaining unit as per Articles 27.02 and 27.05 of the SUN Collective Bargaining Agreement. First preference will be given to employees of the SKHA (Saskatoon) and its affiliated agencies.

KNOWLEDGE OF CURRENT TRENDS, ISSUES AND PERSPECTIVES OF NURSING IN THE SPECIFIC CLINICAL AREA.  KNOWLEDGE OF POLICY AND PROCEDURE DEVELOPMENT AND QUALITY ASSURANCE INITIATIVES.  KNOWLEDGE OF THE ROLE OF THE SPECIFIC CLINICAL AREA WITHIN THE ENTIRE HEALTH SYSTEM.  PREVIOUS SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE IS AN ASSET.
