WHAT YOU'LL DO: SGEU's Labour Relations department provides a full range of services to support the elected structures and members of SGEU in accordance with employment laws and the obligation of a trade union to its members.
WHO YOU ARE:
- You have completed or have an equivalent combination of a post-secondary education in social services, industrial relations or human resources, combined with extensive experience as an advocate and/or elected leader.
- You have a thorough understanding trade union legal framework and environment including statutes such as The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code, The Saskatchewan Employment Act and The Workers Compensation Act;
- You have superior written and oral communication skills as well as advanced experience leading collective bargaining, advocating through the grievance and arbitration processes and interpretation of CBA language.
OUR WORKPLACE AND BENEFITS:
- Designated as field staff, our LROs work 144 hours in a four-week averaging period. Our staff receive competitive salaries, earned days off, a comprehensive benefits package and an employer-contributed pension plan.
